Rising from the ruins of Kharkiv’s former lyceum, this new school stands as a symbol of resilience, renewal, and hope for the future. More than just a building, it is envisioned as a vibrant hub for learning, wellness, and community, a place where education, play, and human connection converge.

The architectural concept, defined by bold “Colour Blocks”, organizes the school into distinct yet interconnected volumes that reflect the diversity and energy of student life. Each block responds to a specific age group and learning style, creating safe, inspiring, and adaptable environments for growth. Natural light floods every classroom, while generous openings frame views of the surrounding landscape, reinforcing the connection between students and nature.

The campus is divided into three main zones corresponding to the different school divisions. This allows each age group to maintain its own identity and rhythm while remaining visually and physically linked through shared courtyards and circulation paths. Bridges, terraces, and outdoor learning gardens foster interaction across all levels, supporting both formal education and spontaneous exploration.

Inside, the school offers an exceptional range of amenities, a fully equipped gymnasium, multi-use activity halls, libraries, a performing arts auditorium, and flexible breakout spaces designed for creativity and collaboration. Beyond the academic core, a series of open public areas and community facilities invite local residents to engage with the campus after school hours, transforming the building into a true civic landmark.

Sustainability and wellbeing are central to the design. The project integrates biophilic strategies, daylight optimization, and natural ventilation to enhance comfort and reduce environmental impact. Warm materials, color, and texture bring a sense of joy and belonging to every corner of the building.

Ultimately, this school redefines what a learning environment can be: a place where students thrive, communities gather, and memories endure. Through its thoughtful design and its symbolic rebirth from destruction, the project celebrates both the spirit of Kharkiv and the transformative power of architecture.
